Casting realistic icicles for display or theming applications is easy with our WC-784 Water Clear urethane product. Using a Platinum based silicone mold, the material is mixed and poured into the mold and allowed to cure for 4-5 hours. Heat can speed up the demold time. Mixing the material without degassing the air bubbles can also give a realistic effect. The cured part is clear, UV stable, tough (not brittle), and can be back-lit for more dramatic effect. It sure did, it made the material harder and more stable as a material. It was a must at Disney since they only like to do things the cheap way in a round about way of things but for ‘Tokyo Disney’ not one expense was spared so this could be done in a more effective way.
Do you find a big difference with the pressure pot. . . Im doing some Car tail lights that are 1000 mm long and 45 mm x 50 mm. . wondering if its worth making a special pressure chamber. . . Using a Barnes ( BJB ) WC 782
I used this 784 to make gems for Tokyo Disney Sea. It was poured into Platinum molds (for repeated uses) after degassing, they then went into a pressure pot and heated to about 24 degrees Celsius. The end result was fantastic!
