Tearing a silicone rubber mold

See how this brand of silicone mold rubber compares to the Smooth-on brand Rebound 25 formula. The purple rubber in this clip you can see tears like paper, this was the absolute worst mold rubber I ever used in my life. Unfortunately I made probably 25 molds with it and all have to be replaced over time as I need them. The stuff had fair tear resistance when new, but after a very few months of time these molds started tearing extremely easy, and that includes even molds that had seen zero casts made, or very few- less than half a dozen. It appears an internal chemical breakdown occurs in this shit within a few months, and is especially pronounced within a year. The Virgina company who made this stuff was ounded in 1997, had both a 35 and 40 shore a Durometer moldmaking compounds. The mix ratio is 10:1 which is a pain in the ass becasue you have to use a gram scale for accuracy. Tthe Smooth-on uses a simple 1:1 ratio, couldn’t be easier, and Smooth-on has been around since 1895- over 100 years longer than the Virginia company. See my other clip on the Smooth-on and the tear test I did on this with a 45# steel vice, I was unable to tear a sample strip
