When mass casting a part without a flat side, you must create a two-part mold. We create a two-part silicone rubber mold with a clean parting line and then cast the part with Repro.

why didnt you use clay for the bottom, instead of the wood? Yuo could’ve used plasticine clay for the base built up around the model

very good tutorial. I have been on the internet for a couple of days now searching for molding and re-fabricating. However i have a question, I am thinking of re-fabricating an old tail light of a vehicle, what kind of plastic will i need to use for the lens? does anyone know? hopefully someone could give me an answer on this. thanks
Where did you buy all these Things?Repro 10, V- 340/ca45.
Chances are the horse was cast from a mold. Use a magnifying glass and try yo see where the original mold lines ran. Because of the many undercuts the horse may have been made from even a 3-part mold. Two halves per side and a third section that went between the legs. You can use clay to fill between the legs, make the two outer halves, remove the clay and cast that part last. Use a flexible silicone for deep undercuts.
where can i get a list of the prices for these materials?
very nice
wouldn’t it be easier to use the clay technique you show in your 2 part mold tutorial?
How would I make a mold of a small antique toy horse I have had for years. I want to make a team of these little horses. How do I set him up? Where would a part line be when there are 4 legs? Help I have been searching everywhere.
Thank you great video!
Also, I am wanting to create a mold for a doll head that has a hollow inside with an open neck. It would be somewhat like creating a mold of a drinking cup. I need the thin shallow sides of the head to be the same thickness and am curious if this method would work…
Could I possibly have a list of the items used in this video, along with where they were purchased from.? Please.
Very well put together instuctional video. Thank you for sharing this.
Could one use an embedment to create a screw cavity for use as a fastening point? That is if one were to stick a screw into the resin and leave part of it out, would the resin bond to the screw or would the screw be able to be removed by turning, leave a screw shaped cavity for use in screwing 2 parts together…or would the shrinkage of the resin grip the screw tight so that removal would be impossible? What if one used an oversized screw case from low melt alloy that was then melted out..
interessante!
Thanks for a great video. Very detailed and nicely done. Bravo!
